Sprocket Rocket is a foundation Cycling Skills Programme which aims to develop the basic skills of Balance, Pedalling, Braking and Cornering that are required when riding a bike.
Road Safety & Bike Maintenance will provide children with the knowledge and awareness to keep themselves safe while cycling and how to keep their bike roadworthy.
Pre-registration is required for both Sprocket Rocket workshops & children must bring their own bike & helmet.

An Taisce Green-Schools are delighted to offer a free cycling skills course to all parents. The aim of the ‘Get in Gear’ course is to instil more confidence in parents as a cyclist, give them the skills that they need to cycle with their children and reduce the amount of cars on the school run.  This workshop is for parents, teachers andstaff who have had some experience of cycling in the past but have fallen out of the habit and will be run by Imelda Ryan-Jones, Green-Schools Travel Education Officer.
 
Wednesday 22nd June ‘Cycle to Work Day’ & Lunchtime Cycle

This is National Cycle to Work Day so why not try cycling to work on that day? Over 50% of people travelling to work in Sligo live within 4km of their workplace. To cycle 4km takes an average of 15 minutes. Only 1.5% of people currently cycle to work in Sligo! 70% of people travel to work by car. Wednesday 22nd June is an opportunity to get on your bike and give it a go!
 
This lunchtime cycle will do a loop of the new off-road cycle track at Doorly Park, starting from the Stephen St. car park. The maximum journey time will be 30minutes. Free lunch voucher for all cycle to work participants!
 
Wednesday 22nd June ‘COW’ (Cycle on Wednesday) Cycle to School

This COW event is to be held following the Cycle training that has been held at the school this summer term.  Pupils and parents will meet at a designated location and cycle together to school that day.
 
 
Saturday 25th June Family ‘Fun’ Cycle Day
Location: Doorly Park new off-road cycle track (Meeting point: Doorly Park playground)

This ‘Family ‘Fun’ Cycle will include a cycle along the new off-road cycle track at Doorly Park followed by fun races/obstacle course teaching children safe cycling. There is no age limit - the only restriction is that no stabilisers are allowed! Children must be accompanied by an adult during the cycle and all participants must wear a helmet. Pre–registration is not required – just turn up with your bikes and helmets!

Join Innisfree Wheelers Cycling Club on a leisurely spin on Sunday morning. Innisfree Wheelers is a leisure cycle touring club for the good of our health and for fun! The spin will include a café stop and the club always plan to make cycling enjoyable! All levels welcome.

Level 2 ‘Out on the Road’ Cycle Proficiency Training for Pupils in the Riverstown Area

Pupils from Ardkeeran NS, Taunagh NS in Riverstown Village and Coolbock NS who completed Level 1 training during National Bike Week in 2010 are taking part in Level 2 Cycle Training which is being carried out by Pedal Right Cycling School.  This is taking place over 4 days with two qualified instructors from Pedal Right and pupils are delighted to avail of this opportunity to take part in professional on-road training.
